If you’ve been using Lion, and are a fan of the fullscreen app then you need Maximizer. Maximizer allows you to apply the fullscreen functionality to apps that do not have it yet, like Chrome, Firefox, and just about every non-native OSX app. It requires a little manual labor, but it’s worth it.

Stereolizer is an internet radio app wrapped in the look of an 80′s stereo cassette deck. Might seem like a bit of a gimmick at first, but it’s neato simply because it records internet radio streams on the iPad and then lets you easily reorder tracks as you see fit.

Tiny Wings is one of those games that you download because it looks like it’s cute and could entertain you for a few minutes. Until you realize it’s insanely addictive and you’ve been playing for an hour straight, and also at every teensy opportune gap of free time in between other activities. It’s also controlled by just one finger tap, which means that while playing, you can snack and have chips, eat entire meals, or sit on the couch sipping a hot cocoa, or use it on the subway, or pretend you’re reading email. Not that I did any of this in the past 48 hours.

I have been back and forth on the 3rd party dev tools for the iphone and the use of flash but, lately I am singing a new song. Apple has changed their tune about developing for the iOS. Now that I can use Flash and any other tool to build apps, I am no longer held hostage to LOE’s and Tech limitations….

S.N.A.P. is a free iPhone/iOS app that gives you a quick glance at your facebook privacy settings and grades it in a much more intuitive and understandable manner than even the social network itself does. Hopefully facebook takes a tip from this app and at least incorporates the simpler grading view. Via engadget.

The Motion X GPS app for iPad will be available shortly,  showing off a larger, more usable footprint of data from the iPhone version. Gives me some interesting excuses for in-vehicle mounting. The existing version is pretty sweet- I’ve used it to log map routes by bike and car, and the data export can be used to geotag photos. It’s not a turn-by-turn navigation solution, but is a pretty robust tracking app for the data hound in me.

Skipping past the news (or, non-news) of the weekend’s technology-world-a-tittering over reports of a new iPhone, I was digging around this morning for some fun photo apps and came across a reduced price on the Pano app. I’ve always been into true panoramic photography, even going so far as to rent some of the real deal, rotating-lens variety of cameras. So if you can’t justify carrying around a Linhoff, Horseman, or even the Lomo Horizon, at least there’s an app to get you wet. To quote RoboCop, “I’d buy that for a dollar!” (I stitched together the photo above by taking six portrait photos from left to right, covering a three block span of buildings. Another random test shot after the jump.)

The photo below is of a 40-ish story building, stacking seven or eight landscape shots. The software tries to correct for perspective a bit, and it tries to do some image magic to nicely overlap the edges, but obviously the way I’m using it doesn’t lend itself well to straight lines. All those weird angles expose where I cheated and had to turn the camera a bit – had this been a photo of a location like the desert, the result would be more seamless.  Like some built-in software on other cameras out there (Canon G9 and up for example), it assists you in stitching together panoramic shots by showing a ghosted edge of the previous photo taken, and your job is to line up the next one in the sequence. Next up? I’ll try some outdoors shots, landscape stuff, maybe some crowds and galleries.

We already know the ipad or iphone will not support flash. But the final blow has come down from the apple mountain top.

PixelPads feature a 10-pixel grid which allows you to sketch in detail your interface design. You will also find on the backside a 4 pane grid for storyboard functionality!

Adobe has recieved a lot of flack since the announcement of the iPad. Rightfully so! Most of you have heard or read about the big CS5 announcement on April12, blah blah blah. Well, after seeing this “sneak preview” my interest is sparked.
