Gone are the days of cramming into a sweat-filled box to catch a glimpse of some pictures on the wall, maybe. This is the new VICE; where space is now plentiful, yet the people are the same. Catch this great exhibition at Pioneer Works in Red Hook through August 10th.

Dave Schubert shares with us the story behind his photograph Highway 101
This long exposure photograph was taken in 2010 while sitting in the passenger seat of my friends car as he drove up Highway 101 into the mountains of Northern California. He pointed to the trees in the distance and mentioned that once we reached the woods we would be in them for the rest of our trip. I don’t remember the length of the exposure—it could’ve been five or 10 minutes, something like that—I just pushed my camera against the glass of the windshield held the shutter open until we hit the trees.
Dave has a new show Scattered Scraps of Memory opening tonight (7/18) at MUDDGUTTS gallery in Brooklyn
