In the summer of 2008, iconic surfer and former Pipe Master, Rob Machado, flew to Indonesia to experience a different kind of surf trip. The journey ultimately took him way beyond his comfort zone, where he was finally alone with his thoughts, desires and the empty perfection of an unnamed Indian Ocean reef. What he discovered was beautifully captured in this autobiographical film.
We had a chance to see a screening of (Untitled) a couple moments back, and liked it enough to give you all the heads up about it. Starring Adam Goldberg, a sexy Marley Shelton, Eion Bailey, Lucy Punch, and Vinnie Jones (as a mix of Maurizio Cattelan and Vinnie Jones), the film is based on the NY Art Scene in all of its idiosyncracies. We definitely recommend seeing its debut in theaters this weekend. As a bonus, we have a package containing a full size movie poster and the original soundtrack for the movie to giveaway. Since the movies tagline is “Everyone’s got an opinion”, watch the trailer after the jump, then give us your opinion in the comments. Best one wins.
When I initially saw this short film by Spike Jonze, the sound was off. While you’ll be able to watch it tonight, the story (with ending) is in these images above. I feel like this could also be the dream Kanye had after the VMA’s.
Paranormal Activity, the Blair Witch of Ghost Hunter TV shows. That’s all I got to say.
Here’s the brief:
“After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban “starter” tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night.”
The filming of Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s latest novel, “Memories of My Melancholy Whores”, the story of a bachelor who for his 90th birthday decides to give himself the gift of a night of “wild love with an adolescent virgin.”… Never got off the ground. The movie has already been protested against and lost it’s funding without one “action”, being heard.
An anti-prostitution group is seeking to block production, charging the movie will promote child prostitution. But it seems the book was ok and would not have same impact as a film would, and eventually TV.
This is a very interesting story playing out. One thing to note, this is all taking place in Mexico where laws are a bit “different”. Although, if we are able to censor ones work based on what one party thinks the possible outcome might be, I don’t know about you but that’s pretty scary shit. In no way are we endorsing prostitution, we are questioning this form of censorship. Read the full story at the huffpost and tell us your thoughts.
Check out the trailer for the remake of the 1973 George Romero classic. The good thing is that he signed on to produce, so the film hopefully will not be butchered! I love the end of the trailer the best.
Cleon Peterson has a new print/movie poster available that he created for The Baader Meinhof Complex, a movie based on a true story of what happens when the children of Nazi Germany grow up. The trailer is after the jump, and totally worth watching. The print is above, and totally worth buying here.
Mobile entertainment startup mSpot is launching its Mobile Movies site, which will let users stream full-length movies on their mobile phones. Don’t worry non-iPhonies, movies will be available on 30 different smart phones, including: the iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices and via all four major U.S. carriers.
I think the best part of it is that the rentals range from 24hr-5day, perfect for the commute. They even offer memberships!
Dead cell phones, the formulaic scary movie plot twist. When all else fails, dead cellphones will do the trick. Watch this amazing compilation of scary movie, post cellphone age, using the excuse “no signal”.
Michael Moore, “The most feared filmmaker in America….” hmmm I guess, at least that is what the voice over says in the trailer. Well, his films do always spark controversy. Check out the trailer featuring a nicely place MIA track!
