Who actually buys Urban Art?

A bit dated but according to The Guardian, the attempted humorous answer is…
The boy-man.
The corporate banker
The canny restauranteur
Bitter speculators.
Ex-subversives.

Saturday @ Phillips in New York

Just to throw it out into the blogosphere, the upcoming Saturday @ Phillips Auction in New York is in my opinion their best yet. Maybe it is a reflection of the times, because there are lots of stellar pieces up for consumption. Included are favorites such as Barry McGee, Cleon Peterson, Shepard Fairey, Richard Colman, and Os Gemeos. We’ll have our normal round-up of stand out lots as the auction draws closer.
Big Cartel

Big Cartel is a viable option to look into if you’re interested in opening an online store and do not want to be bothered much with anything. Real simple, clean design, and easy to maintain.
Keep making moves, keep making money.
This Saturday @ Phillips in London

Lot 189 BAST, Electro-Tits, 2006
Phillips De Pury’s Saturday @ Phillips auction returns tomorrow to London, offering up some interesting lots. The following is selection of works I think you should bid on and win. Because winning is fundamental.
1 Trillion Dollars

This is what 1 trillion dollars would look like if the $10,000 stacks of $100 bills we all know were all piled up. Note the life-size human in the bottom left.
This picture got me thinking that it really is 1 Trillion dollars, because 1 Trillion dollars is totally made up and fictitious.

Looking for the right house, how about a wright house?

Sorry, that was dumb and easy. Seriously though, a really gorgeous house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is up for sale in The Bathrooms (Los Banos) California. If you consider yourself a real player, make it happen and make it sold.

In London, Street Art gets quietly ushered back to the street

Well, those days of crazy speculation and Londoners throwing their money at anything made with a stencil or wheatpaste are over. Much to the displeasure of Bonham’s, yesterday’s ‘Urban Art’ sale did not do so great. See the results here.
Cleon Peterson’s Celebrity Appeal

You have to love this headline:
Christina Aguilera To Exhibit Violent Art At Home?
Apparently her husband was in New Image Art the other day to see Cleon’s latest show, The Occupation. The painting above (sans Christina’s dome) would be a great addition to any collection that could provide the space to display it.
