By now you’ve seen and read Dallas Clayton’s recurring column The Greatest Writer Alive on our website. Building upon it, we’re happy to announce that Dallas has just released a new collection of poetry and illustration work in print. Boasting over 100 pages, it’s a great book to pick up at any time of the day. To celebrate the release of the book, we’ve put together a fun giveaway with Dallas that will net you a signed copy of The Greatest Writer Alive, plus an original drawing. The scoop is below:

To become eligible to win the signed book and original drawing by Dallas Clayton, go into the comments section and write some words (a short poem, perhaps?) about an awkward moment in your teenage years. On December 22nd, we’ll pick our favorite and to top it off Dallas will make a drawing to accompany your words. Simple, and awesome. You have until Wednesday 11:59pm to enter, so go for it!

We’ve partnered with MoMA to give our readers a chance to win a pair of tickets granting access to the Armory Show Vernissage along with the opening-day party at the museum featuring a performance by Kate Nash this March. If you’ve never partied in the Museum of Modern Art, you’ll be in for a one-of-a-kind experience. Since gifs are advanced modern art, we thought what better way to celebrate than to have a gif party. All you have to do be entered to win this competition is submit an original animated gif that you’ve created. We’ll be continuously updating on this page. We were blessed by The Standard last Thursday when they presented to us a set of KAWS’ lightbulbs to giveaway to a lucky reader. Our server however had other plans, and went down for a week. In that time, the lightbulbs sold out.  The awesome thing though is that we still have the lightbulbs to give away.  To make it interesting, you’re going to have to write a haiku to score the unopened, coveted set. In the comments, write a haiku (5,7,5) based around KAWS, The Standard, Lightbulbs, or just why this would make your life better. The contest will run until February 4th, 2011. After that, our favorite Haiku will be picked as the winner February 7th, 2011.  Enter as many times as you like but, please do not get slanderous. That’s just boring.
