it could be good

If you saw evil dead, evil dead 2, army of darkness,….and 91 other things he has been in, Then you will love “My name is Bruce”. Bruce Campbell, plays himself, I find this probably was not too hard. Here’s the breakdown…..

“My Name Is Bruce is the tale of a small town set upon by demons after a group of teen-agers unwittingly unleash an ancient curse. Campbell, playing himself, is kidnapped off the set of a B horror movie and, despite his protestations that he’s just an actor, is forced to play the role of his heroic movie character in order to save the town.” Originally scheduled for a 07 release, it looks like 08 will be his year.

a must see, go rent it now “born into brothels”

born-into-brothels.jpg

The Academy Award Winning Documentary, HBO’s “Born Into Brothels” (2005) is by far one of the best films I have seen in a long time. Shot in Calcutta’s red light district. Born into Brothels, by Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski, is a..” tribute to the resiliency of childhood and the restorative power of art, Born into Brothels is a portrait of several unforgettable children who live in the red light district of Calcutta, where their mothers work as prostitutes. Zana Briski, a New York-based photographer, gives each of the children a camera and teaches them to look at the world with new eyes.”

Jack Black, love him or hate him, but when you pair him up with Mos Def and Michel Gondry, you have internal sunshine of the demented mind.

The Premise behind the movie is this, JB is magnetized and erases the tapes. They remake the films,(low, low budget style) and replace the magnetized tapes. From Ghostbusters to Driving Miss Daisey to Robocop, each skit looks great. It looks really funny in a Gondry way. So add it to your must see for 2008.

I just watched the trailer for this upcoming film, it’s Blair/Dawn of the Dead/28 days. It looks like it could be a classic. But, one question. When will Tom Cruise buy it and remake it? Here is a little bit of the review I read on Ain’t it cool news.

“…The movie is about news reporter Angela and cameraman Pablo, who go to film a documentary about a normal night with the fire brigade. The entire movie is filmed by Pablo as the documentary they are making. The night starts off with no calls…no fires…very boring, just hanging out with the firemen until they receive a call to go to a building. When they arrive, they are told by the neighbours that the old lady who lives on the second floor has been screaming for the past half hour. They go up….and well, this is when disturbing things start to happen. The old lady bites the neck of one of the firemen, and so they try to get out of the building for him to get some medical help, only to find the building locked from the outside under the “NBQ” (Nuclear, Biochemical and Chemical) protocol by military men…we learn there is an unknown infection in the building…you can imagine what happens to the fireman who has been bitten…”

buffy all grown up in southland

sarah-michel-gellar.jpg
Southland Tales” is an ensemble piece set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson stars as Boxer Santaros, an action star stricken with amnesia whose life intertwines with Krysta Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar), an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and David Clark (Seann William Scott), a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy…… So that is all?

Some how Perry Farrell is involved at least quoted on the website, and its from the writer and director of Donnie Darko. This is a good sign. Question are Rock and Sean the new Dean and Jerry? So far it looks like Buffy would make a great pornstar!

First the battle with Dave Grohl and the Nirvana rights. Then, she was selling his sweaters online, and Screenwriter David Benioff has signed on to write a movie about Kurt Cobain. Benioff will use as a reference the Charles Cross’ 2001 book Heavier Than Heaven, which detailed the rise and fall of the Nirvana frontman. Courtney Love is on board as executive producer, along with her attorney Howard Weitzman. Via Hollywood.com

ahhhh, the holiday movies are coming

tim-burton-sweeny-todd.jpg

The trailer for Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd, gathers his entire crew of usual suspects and themes, much like a Wes Anderson film does. Johnny Depp? Check. Helena Bonham Carter? Check. Creepy 19th century production design? Check. A color palette consisting entirely of black, white, and blood red? Of course. And the oddly added bonus, Sacha Baron Cohen. Watch the trailer at Yahoo films. Release Date: December 21, 2007.
