Scion installation 5 in LA

This weekend in Los Angeles, be sure to catch Scion installation 5: Self Portraits.  Over the past year, the company has been sponsoring some really great events, and this is the culmination of their efforts with an Auction on Artnet.

Here’s the brief:
SCION LAUNCHES “INSTALLATION 5 TOUR: SELF PORTRAITS” ONLINE AUCTION ON ARTNET.COM TO BENEFIT CREATIVE CAPITAL SEPT. 12 THROUGH SEPT. 30.  The Collection Features Self Portraits From International Contemporary Artists, Including Blek le Rat, Mark Mothersbaugh, David Choe, Ron English, Jeff Soto, Angela Boatwright, Among Many Others Fifth Annual Art Tour Makes Final Stop At Scion Installation L.A. Gallery on Sept. 12

Heres the important info:

Sept. 12 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Scion Installation L.A. Gallery, 3521 Helms Ave. (at National), Culver City, CA 90232.  The reception is free with complimentary valet parking and an open bar. The exhibit will run until Sept. 30, 2009.

Here are a few updates for all our Pushead fans. He is doing a second bottle for the Mountain Dew Green Label Art series called “Scarecrow Genie” that will be available September 7th, at a special event here in NYC.

Pushead has also completed a collaboration with WESC headphones that is part of the MOUNTAIN DEW green label artist 3rd series under the cap promotion, there will be a sweepstakes to win limited edition prizes. The contest starts September 9th.(contest details)

Finally, he will be guest curating  Juxtapoz‘s October issue! The issue will feature WES BENSCOTER, ROCKIN JELLY BEAN, TAKATO YAMAMOTO, MIKE SUTFIN, KOSTAS

the Art of Hu Ming

Hu Ming was a member of the People’s Liberation Army during the Cultural Revolution. Hu’s sensual work featuring Chinese women is very surreal and provocative, it reminds me of Robert Williams’ work. Learn more about her and her work here in a great interview with the artist.
