*Yawn* People who lose in the market always whine that the government needs to intervene to ensure a “level playing ground’, which actually means other people covering their costs to reach their customers. It’s no different from a niche mustard company demanding laws to require grocery stores to sell their mustard, rather than the mustard they think their customers want.

We don’t have a problem with grocery stores not carrying the product people want, even without the government demanding equal access for niche products. Why is that? Because grocery stores don’t get paid if they don’t provide the products their customers want.

We should be very, very skeptical of anyone who claims the government has to force companies to carry the products their customers want. It’s much, much more likely they’re just trying to shift their costs of reaching their markets onto others.
