Repetition Works

Inside the New Era Cap Company factory.

Last week, I was invited up to Buffalo, New York to learn about New Era’s brand history and their upcoming Heritage Collection. Being that baseball caps have had a place in my entire life, I jumped at the opportunity.

Founded in 1920, the fourth generation family-owned business has evolved from making Gatsby-era “fashion caps” to heritage-linked Major League Baseball caps, which they started producing in 1934. In recent years, New Era has expanded beyond baseball exclusivity and has utilized over 400 licenses, producing a new age of “fashion caps” for popular culture, and in turn coming full circle back to their foundation.

With over 50 million caps produced last year, chances are you’ve had one on your head at some point in time.
