Openings & Parties: Deep Space

This past Saturday night, a large survey of work by Matta, Rammellzee, Futura, and Phase 2 opened in the Meatpacking District. Curated by Nemo Librizzi and Joseph Nahmad, the dramatically lit Deep Space presented massive canvases connecting the 1970s work of Chilean artist Matta with that of the art created by New York City subway writers in the 1980s. A lively crowd filled the open space, accompanied by the cool jazzy tunes that acted as the center of energy for the show.
