   I remember seeing this a couple of times as a kid. I was immediately intrigued. I have a large Disney animation book that I got when I was about 12 or 13 that has a whole chapter on this, cel animation in general, and how they approached it.

   While this segment was created for Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color in 1957, the first multiplane camera was put to use on the Academy Award Winning short “The Old Mill” in 1937 and was used from there on out. So technically it’s Advanced thinking by the Walt Disney Studios from the 1930s.
