The Greatest Writer Alive

Earth

Not far away from you
there is someone small
and wounded
coping with the aftermath
of a disaster
which has taken her home.

There is also
just as close
an older man
dedicating his free time
to designing racist T shirts
and bumper stickers.

Today I bought a soccer ball
and played an hour in the grass.

You should explain why you think so. I like this piece and it lets me think about his words in a very imaginative way. And the juxtaposition of the figures he tells has this strange hierarchy. Someone in pain vs someone hateful vs someone carefree. There is more to it; i’m just condensing to avoid a lengthy post. I don’t know why you consider him the greatest writer alive though; that is a strong claim. Please explain.

  2. A great writer.
