Good Day Tuesday
Hi,
I’m jay howell, I live in San Francisco and here’s what I’ve been listening to lately:
Radio Dept. – Clinging to a Scheme

I don’t really feel they have ever captured the same feeling as Lesser matters ( totally ruling record ) but this is good and will do the trick.

Best Coast

I love this band. This girl was in Pocahaunted before…or still is? I don’t know?, Anyway, I like Pocahaunteds Passage record alot, listen to that, and then some Niel Young..or vice versa.
Best Coast have put out a bunch of 7inches and eps and stuff and it’s high time for a full length.
It reminds me of the Aislers Set, remember that band?

Candy Claws – In the Dream of the Sea Life
I don’t know anything about this band. They have weird shoegazy records and I think they’re awesome.
The songs sometimes take a minute to get going but then they build up and fill up your head all crazy.

This sounds like a current band doing a 80′s David Lynch/Enya masterpiece.

This record always makes me feel great. I have only seen these guys live once. They played in a field on a hot summer night and I wasted lying in the grass. It was fucking kind. They seem to be always changing their sound, and that night they did a slow and loud as hell sonic mind fuck on yours truly.

I like how those songs Sonic on my Sneaks goes right into Bellyache. They are not together anymore as far as I know. I get the feeling that this band was a bunch of college kids that broke their band up because they all graduated and got stupid well paying jobs and shit.

They got a large range of sounds, I like the louder stuff.
I first heard of this band from the site – www.nopaininpop.com which has informed me on many music things.

Disclaimer:
I think BigfatSatanist.blogspot says it best:
I have shortened his full schpeal but you get the point -
” I strongly encourage buying music, should you download anything that you end up liking. I suggest checking the labels’ websites or Aquarius Records, an insanely great record store based in San Fransisco. They have most good music that’s still in print. If they don’t have what you’re looking for try eBay or, if necessary, Amazon.
I personally believe that the vast amount of independent, non-profit music blogs are effective tools for supporting independent music and its bands/artists, and helping them reach new audiences. In addition, music blogs help in making sure that long-deleted/abandoned releases are kept from disappearing into obscurity. There is an abundance of fantastic music out there that simply isn’t available anymore for the consumer. The purpose of the blog is to introduce people to music they otherwise would never have gotten exposed to, and of course to introduce bands and artists to new listeners.
Finally, if you work for the RIAA or any similar organization; end your miserable life.”
