Sam Hseih‘s One Year performance piece, Cage Piece (1978-1979) is currently on display at Moma and it is amazing.  Just imagine…Solitary confinement, locked in a cage for one year (365 days). No communication with anybody, no reading, no writing, no radio, no tv, no nothing. A friend comes over once a day to take a photo of you in the same spot.  This must have been intense and an incredible lesson in self discipline.
