sakaya for me

I have to be honest. I do not know my way around a sake bar, but I love the stuff. Some you drink warm and some cold, some sweet, and some are dry. The only time I drink good sake is when someone else is ordering. Now I have a chance, Sakaya, on 324 E 9th St, between 1st and 2nd; 212.505.7253 opens this Saturday. The first all-sake shop in NYC, Sakaya’s the work of a former Food & Wine assoc. publisher who was trained by the world’s foremost non-Japanese sake expert. They’ll open with 85 brands which includes all grades, from the cheapest junmai to the topshelf daiginjo: Midori Kawa ($163).
One of the other dilemna’s in buying sake, as well as wine, is remembering what you bought the next time you’re in store, which they promise to help you out! So after you see revolver, stop by and pick up a bottle of Sake.
