The story of Bunker Spreckels is a wild one. At the age of 21, he inherited a fortune thanks to his family's sugar empire. By 27 he was dead. In between he evolved from a surfing hippy to an international playboy. The best idea he had during this time was to a hire a photographer, Art Brewer, to document his every move. These photos have now come together in a book, Bunker Spreckels: Surfing's Divine Prince of Decadence, co-authored by Art Brewer and C. R. Stecyk III. Enjoy the read.

money isnt everything,it was a snare, which traped bunker and destroyed him in the prime of life, to hollywood and no real friends just hangeroners bathing in his glow aloha bunker

Why it's Elli Conn, Hilton Frazer's old girfriend. She was quite used by the time she took up with Bunker. I met him in Biarritz in the Spring of 73, the most full of himself punk I'd met and ever have. Next saw him with Elli at an Elton John concert in Honolulu in 74, still a punk, died a punk.
