Actually, Riedel developed the whole idea behind different shapes of glasses for different wines – before them people drank from whatever was at hand. And although Riedel may have some sound innovations there and scientifically you can’t argue with the notion of flutes for champagne, nothing beats a coupe for drinking champers – pure Thin Man glamour…
