puzzle, are the stripes smarter than you?

The White Stripes are smarter than you? Only the smart ones shall pass. Its been reported, "are the stripes trying to weed out their intelligent fans from their vacuous ones, or are they just trying to create buzz for their new album Icky Thump (due out in June of this year)? " Either way, I guess its better than a coke commercial....oh wait they did that too.
booze-filled sandal

If I make it to the Derby this year I know where the absinthe is going. The Dram sandal by Reef holds a polyurethane encapsulated canteen in its heel for booze. The flask can only be opened with a Reef Church key, so if you lose it, you suck. via, boing boing

tiny street art project

Little people - a tiny street art project is exactly what its title states "Little handpainted people, left in London to tend for themselves." The idea is genius and the execution just as much. If you would like prints of these you can find them here. via, wooster collective

Need to know

Like the Vatican in Rome, Disney World (aka the official name, Reedy Creek Improvement District), is basically a sovereign state. The 300 acres of land Walt purchased is detached from the rest of Florida. Disney World is exempt from State inspections and Democratic process, power remains in the hands of the board, and Disney allies.

french advertisement for lubrication

You might appreciate the subtlety of this ad, done by a Brazilian ad agency, for a lubricating gel (K-Y equivalent) targeting the French market. They were trying to come up with an ad that is not offensive or tasteless. The picture looks completely innocent until you notice the details... Apparently, it has created quite a buzz in Europe.
Siamese Twin

Upper Playground, Fifty24SF and Ningyoushi, presents a new mini figures series, GET SMALL San Francisco. GET SMALL San Francisco features four recognized San Francisco street and fine art artists, Jeremy Fish, Sam Flores, Coro, and David Choe.

David Choe was born 1976, in Los Angeles. Today, he is currently homeless, wandering the Earth, making good and bad music. His favorite places are Vietnam, Israel, NYC, and the Bay Area. Even though he dropped out of art school, he still gets asked to speak at universities all the time. He works in all mediums. He can paint, anything and everything, as well as on anything and everything. He has won lots of awards and his work can be found in almost every facet of society, from comics, murals, toys, prints, movies, music, magazines, books, t-shirts, commercials, posters, shoes, fine art, live demos etc. He says he wants to retire early, illustrate the entire bible and paint the entire Great Wall of China. But who knows anything with this guy.
blog about shopping in NYC

Curbed's has launched a brand new blog. Racked, the newest member of the Curbed family. It's a blog about shopping, neighborhood stores and the retail scene of New York City. Like all Curbed sites, Racked comes at its world from the street up, covering everything from the newest Nolita boutiques to gas station gift shops in Queens. Current obsessions include Diane Von Furtstenberg's forthcoming Meatpacking shrine, an alarming situation at Trader Joe's.
Racked is edited by Leslie Price, who comes to us by way of Time Out NY, where her beat was restaurants and bars as well as new shops, spas, and trends.
time waster

So you got some time on your hands....well check out this site and look at all the "douchebags", hotchickswithdouchebags.com. I don't know who is the worse, the guys, or the girls who date guys like that. Maybe, its just low self esteem.
meat eater

Now that you ran out and bought your skinny "williamsburg" jeans, from the Gap, head over to Fetta Sau ("Fat Pig" in German) part all-American barbecue pit, part beer and bourbon bar. Venture down the narrow, picnic table-lined patio into this converted mechanic's garage—across the street from owner Joe Carroll's other masterwork, Spuyten Duyvil—and you're instantly struck by two things: an entire wall of cartoonish yet edifying sketches of butcher cuts, and the satisfying smell of smoked meat.
Fette Sau, 354 Metropolitan Ave (between Havemeyer and N. 4th), Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 718-963-3404
to move out of williamsburg

The writing is on the wall, if you never had a reason before to move from Williamsburg (besides the trustafarian's) see teatsucker, you do now! Via free williamsburg(ironic dont you think) ,The gap has changed the name of their skinny jean cut as "hipster", to the "williamsburg". Apparently, in the world of fashion Williamsburg now officially means "annoyingly trendy," "androgynously thin," and/or "should never, ever be worn by adult males who aren't Lou Reed." Look for the Webster's inclusion next year.

shepard fairey tuesday

Releasing today over at Obey Giant is a print titled "War by Numbers", the name taken from a painting that Shepard created for the Charity-By-Numbers Show this past February. My guess is that this print will be gone in under a minute, so look for it on ebay starting wednesday.
Bar with a art opening

New to the Lower East Side, neighborhood, art-bar hybrid, GalleryBar, milked that fact, opening its lounge doors to Orchard Street last night with the debut of Kevin Berlin's "Slaves of Fashion" exhibition. In a stripped space save for provocative black-and-white paintings floating on the main gallery walls, a photography corner, two no-frills but fully stocked bars, and a shadowy hideaway with exposed beams and dark leather chaises downstairs. (*note the website has a bad, 1990's style intro..... please click skip...)
fish tank

Oita Marine Center, Japan has fish tanks that allow you to feed the fish. I don't know how this fish tank works exactly, but somehow they have created a vacuum that keeps the water from spilling out, which allows you to feed the fish. To see more photo's check out Higo Blog at cosmicbuddha.com.
