The BMW Art Car Collection started in 1975 when Alexander Calder transformed french racing driver Herve Poulain BMW 3.0 CSL into a work of art before its 24-hour race in Le Mans. Enthusiasm for the art car concept soon grew, as famous artists such as Frank Stella, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein created their own unique cars. Today the BMW Art Car Collection totals 15 automotive works of art, as nine countries from every continent of the world are represented. The show comes to the Whitney Museum in 2008.

Sadly, this isn't correct. I called the Whitney thinking this would be one of the best Christmas presents ever for my boyfriend and they don't have anything on their books for 2008. BMW Car Club of America didn't know either.
Boo... hoo... :(
